Aaron Rodgers is FREE

Aaron Rodgers, two time MVP Quarterback, one time Super Bowl Champion, is free of his ties that held him back. Mike McCarthy, the largely overrated coach, has finally been fired form the Green Bay Packers. For years, we have dreamed of the possibilities if Rodgers had a decent coach. Rodgers and Belichick would have won multiple super bowls, Rodgers and Andy Reid or Matt Nagy would terrorize defenses in a spread offense. Nagy was a coach waiting to be signed just last year. If the Packers had fired McCarthy then, they would almost surely be in the thick of the playoff race. Instead, they just lost to arguably the worst team in the league, and are a long shot for even the sixth seed.

McCarthy has always seemed like a good coach, as he won a Super Bowl, but never actually has been. That Super Bowl year was a combination of outstanding play from Aaron Rodgers, and a very strong defense. If McCarthy does not have both of those, he is terrible. For example, last year, when Aaron Rodgers was hurt, the Packers went 7-9 and seemingly just waited out the season until Rodgers came back.

A good coach would be able to adjust to these things and still try to make something out of that season. One example of this is the 2015 New England Patriots. The had a terrible defense ranked in the bottom half of almost every category, along with the 30th best run game in the league. Belichick coached the team to a 12-4 season, and went all the way to the AFC Championship game.

Now that McCarthy is gone the Packers should make a smart decision as their next head coach. Their are a lot of potential candidates that would love to coach a player with the talent and caliber of Aaron Rodgers. On a collegiate level, Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury has attracted the attention of many teams after he was fired. Kingsbury is probably the closest coach available that matches the Air Raid technique that is taking the NFL by storm. One potential NFL candidates could be Ravens coach John Harbaugh, if he is fired. Harbaugh has won a super bowl himself, and is a very good coach. If he is fired, the Packers could come calling.

The dream coach for Aaron Rodgers that is plausible, is Josh McDaniels. The Patriots OC has coached Tom Brady extremely well, and would be even better with a mobile quarterback like Rodgers. The tandem would almost surely win a lot of football games, and maybe even get a Super Bowl. The pairing is unlikely, however, as McDaniels has already turned down many coaching jobs, including backing out of one last year with the Colts.
