Cowboys - Seahawks Recap

The Dallas Cowboys just barely defeated the Seattle Seahawks last night in a 24-22 game. They advanced to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. There, they will play either the Rams or the Saints in LA or New Orleans.

The Cowboys looked like a complete team this game, something they have not done much this season. Despite the devastating injury of Allen Hurns in the first quarter, Dak Prescott threw the ball well. Amari Cooper had 7 catches for 106 receiving yards. Ezekiel Elliot racked up 144 yards on the ground, including a key 44 yard run to set up the Cowboys first score.

Defensively, Dallas completely stopped the number one rushing offense in the league. Seattle had a total of 76 running yards for the day. They made Russell Wilson take deep shots down the field, which resulted in many incomplete balls.

The Seahawks managed to stay in the game for a while, but could not keep up in the fourth quarter. They were set up with a great opportunity to win the game following a K.J. Wright interception, but failed to capitalize. The Cowboys then iced the game with a crazy series from Prescott that put them up 24-14.

Seattle lost its kicker at the end on the first half. Sebastian Janikowski pulled his hamstring while attempting a 58 yard field goal. This prompted the Seahawks to go for two when they scored. The lack of the kicker might have costed the Seahawks, as on their onside kick attempt, punter Michael Dickson could not execute a drop kick.

Once again, the Cowboys have overcome doubters that believed they were not a competent team and defeated a real contender in the Seahawks. They should be feared again throughout the league.
