Eagles vs. Bears Recap

Nick Foles' legend grows. After the Eagles' miraculous season last year, it appears as if though it might happen again. The sixth seeded Eagles upset the third seeded Bears last night in a thriller that featured mind boggling calls and lots of back and forth action.

The Chicago Bears were favored heavily in this game, and FPI gave them a 70% chance of winning. The first two quarters were a slugfest, with both teams' defenses stepping up greatly. However, there was a very weird play around half-time. The Bears threw a deep ball to Anthony Miller that he had for a moment, but then had the ball knocked out of his hands. Upon further review, the play was called a catch and a fumble. However, because nobody recovered it, the play counted as incomplete.

In the second half, the game picked up a lot more. Mitch Trubisky threw a beautiful touchdown pass to Allen Robinson with 6 minutes to go that put Chicago up 15-10. Nick Foles was given the ball back to recreate his magic and win the game for the Eagles. Foles delivered spectacularly. He led a long drive that ate up nearly 5 of the remaining 6 minutes on the clock. When it looked like the Bears defense would get a stop and win, he threw a touchdown to Golden Tate with under a minute left on the clock.

However, the game was not over yet. As the Eagles failed to convert their two point attempt, all the Bears needed was a field goal to win. Trubisky led the Bears all the way to the Philadelphia 25 yard line to set up Cody Parkey for the game winner. He kicked it....and it was good. The kick did not count, though, because coach Doug Pederson had called timeout to 'ice' the kicker. Parkey went on to kick...and it bounced off the post, crossbar, and fell short after being tipped by an Eagles player. Game over. Eagles win.
