As the conclusion of the intense and thrilling UEFA Champions League comes closer into sight, the best soccer clubs in Europe boil down to a select few capable squads. During this, many can witness various teams that stand out, whose performance has been top-notch. Certain factors such as their players, managers, and teamwork have allowed them to rise above others in their leagues forming the best clubs in Europe. Here are the top 10 European soccer teams as of the end of April.

10. Arsenal (+2)

At 4th place in the Premier League and in the semi-finals of the Europa League, Arsenal has steadily made its way to the top of the Premier League since their instability at the start of the Premier League. With Aubameyang and Lacazette at their front lines, scoring goals is not a problem. In fact, these two forwards are responsible for their progress in the Europa League. However, the vulnerability of their defense has held them back in many instances in the Premier League and has had them miss out on countless opportunities such as the Champions League.

9. Borussia Dortmund (-3)

8. Manchester United (-1)

7. Bayern Munich (+2)

6. Juventus (-6)

5. AFC Ajax (+6)

Out of all the teams in European Leagues, Ajax has probably made the most improvements. From not even making it to the Champions League during the 2017/18 season to making it to the top 4 this year and sitting at the top of their League, Ajax has had one of the most successful seasons ever. With their superior passing ability, displayed in their game against Juventus, and forwards such as Dušan Tadić racking in the goals, Ajax’s elite performance has earned them a spot on this list.

4. Tottenham Hotspur (+6)

With Korean star Son Heung Min at the center of their plays, being one of the main reasons behind their strong offense, the Spurs are undergoing a Champions League golden age. On top of going to the Champions League semi-finals by winning one of the most intense games in UEFA history against Manchester City, Tottenham is also amongst the top 3 Premier League squads, 16 points behind the same team. With their powerful offense being behind most of their wins, many say the Spurs are destined to win the Champions League.

3. Manchester City (-1)

2. Liverpool (+1)

1. FC Barcelona (+4)

With their recent performances as well as others throughout this season, Barcelona has demonstrated that they are truly the best European team to offer. Sitting at the top of La Liga and the UEFA Champions League semi-finals through a clean-sheet against Manchester United, Barca’s team-work and overall skill on the field is second to none. While their tight defense keeps them from conceding minimum goals, their offense, consisting of five Ballon d’Or winner Messi and Suarez, racks up the goals. This combination has helped Barca countless times in the past and is the main reason why they have lost only two games in La Liga. Being crowd favorites to win, Barcelona seems to excel all other teams in seemingly every aspect of soccer which is why they place as the number 1 team on this list.
