Josh Gordon has had a troublesome career, to say the least. After coming into the NFL, he has been suspended four different times, including a full season ban in 2016. Finally, this year, he made his return to football after nearly three years of suspension time. He was traded to the New England Patriots early on and was thriving.
In 10 weeks with the Patriots, Gordon produced 40 receptions and a team-high 720 yards to go with three touchdowns. More importantly, he opened up the offense for Tom Brady as he attracted at least one defender down the field on every play. Gordon also was an excellent run blocker, and created many holes for the running backs.
Now, Gordon has been suspended, once again, by the NFL. He has violated the terms he agreed to when he was reinstated. After really only one complete season in the league, one that he led the league in receiving yards in, Gordon is out of the NFL again, likely for his career this time.

This could not come at a worse time for the Patriots, as they have dropped two straight entering the final two weeks. They should not miss him against Buffalo or New York, but in the playoffs, Tom Brady will be in trouble. He will no longer have a big target with sure hands to throw at, with Rob Gronkowski also having a bad year.
Julian Edelman and James White will have to carry way more of the load than they should. Outside of those two, the Patriots receiving room is pretty bad, as Phillip Dorsett has not been too good for them this year. Gordon is the perfect example of a colossal waste of talent and potential.
