Josh Rosen on the move?

Following the retirement of Carson Palmer, the Cardinals were in need of a quarterback. With the 10th pick of the 2018 draft, the Arizona Cardinals traded up to select quarterback Josh Rosen out of Wyoming to be the next face of their franchise. At the time, Rosen (in)famously said, "Nine teams made a mistake tonight". One 3-13 season later, the Cardinals find themselves in possession of the number one overall pick in a loaded draft class.

It was expected that, with the first pick, the Cardinals would select defensive end Nick Bosa out of Ohio State. However, after dual-sport phenom Kyler Murray chose the NFL over the MLB, there were some rumors that the Cardinals were interested. Newly hired head coach Kliff Kingsbury had previously said, "if I had the #1 pick, I would take Kyler". These rumors were present, but it was still expected that the Cardinals stuck with Bosa, especially because they already had a quarterback.

During the NFL combine in February, things changed drastically. It was reported that the Cardinals were extremely interested in Murray, and many mock drafts had Kyler going #1. This led to teams inquiring about Josh Rosen's availability. The Cardinals have not been very committed to Rosen, and have avoided questions about him. Recently, it was reported that the Patriots, Giants, and Chargers had all asked about Rosen, and given offers.

All three of the teams that made offers have aging quarterbacks who are in the waning years of their career(or so we think: If Brady wins a Super Bowl in 2048, would we really be that surprised?). For them, adding Rosen would be huge. They would likely get a steep discount, as numerous scouts have said that they expect Rosen to be shipped for either a second or third round pick. That price for a 24 year old sophomore is quite a bargain.

If the Pats land Rosen, they have a legitimate heir to the throne that could continue their dynasty. The same applies for the Chargers. Another QB needy team, like the Dolphins, could also jump into the fray. For all we know, the Cardinals might just take Bosa, or trade down for more picks. Regardless of whether or not Rosen is traded, it will be interesting to see what pans out.
