Today, TMZ Sports released a shocking video showing Chiefs star running back Kareem Hunt shoving and kicking a woman in February. This goes against the NFL's code of conduct policy, and by rule Hunt should be suspended for 6 games.
More surprisingly, the Chiefs are apparently only getting video evidence of this right now. They believe Hunt lied to them about the severity of the ordeal, which explains why was cut. we are. They reportedly sent Hunt home from practice. Hunt was placed on the Commisioner Exempt list, and later cut by the Chiefs.

Hunt's absence could harm the Chiefs badly. Hunt has provided an excellent balance to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Defenses have no idea what to do, as Hunt could get the ball on the ground, run a flat, or a wheel. This gives the Chiefs a valuable asset most teams can't defend.
Hunt being out would lead to defenses being able to predict the Chiefs offense much better. As the Chiefs enter the final stretch of the year, they play the Chargers, Ravens, and Seahawks. All of those teams are in the top 15 in total defense, and could legitimately play with the Chiefs if they can score on offense. This might lead to the Chiefs potentially losing on of those games, which would open the door for a team like the Patriots or Texans to take the 1st seed.
While losing Hunt might not be ideal for the Chiefs, they still are a top team, but may not be at the same level of dominance as they were before. The most likely scenario is that they become the two seed. What is more important is that the Chiefs were willing to cut a star player because of allegations. This could open the door for the NFL to finally start getting these domestic violence allegations correct.
