The NFL Draft is just one week away. To celebrate, today, we will be making a mock draft for the first round, and potentially seeing some draft day trades along the way.
#1, Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray, QB(Oklahoma)
With the first pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals will select Kyler Murray out of Oklahoma. With new coach Kliff Kingsbury being more than interested in Murray, it will be a shock if Arizona doesn't take him. The real question is: Who will Josh Rosen be traded to?
#2, San Fransisco 49ers: Nick Bosa, DE(Ohio State)
In a stacked defensive lineman class, Bosa is the cream of the crop. He will fit in seamlessly into the 49ers system, and will form a dangerous one-two punch with sophomore DeForest Buckner.
#3, New York Jets: Josh Allen, DE(Kentucky)
Allen shined at the combine and at his pro day, and made a smart decision to forgo the draft last season. He addresses a huge need for the Jets at defensive end and is a no-brainer selection.
#4, Oakland Raiders: Quinnen Williams, DT(Alabama)
Williams is widely regarded as a surefire star in the league. He has amazing physical capabilities, and ran a 4.83 forty yard dash at the combine. Williams also has coaching from Nick Saban, and is a great pick at number four for Oakland.
#5, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ed Oliver, DT(Houston)
A bit overshadowed by the aforementioned Williams, Oliver has been declared the second best defensive tackle in the draft. However, others are giving him Aaron Donald-like comparisons, and he would be a great match alongside Gerald McCoy in Steve Wilks' defense.
#6, New York Giants: Dwayne Haskins, QB(Ohio State)
Haskins, a Heisman Trophy candidate, played incredible the whole NCAA season. The Giants have sown interest in him, and if New York is intent on playing Eli Manning, Haskins could redshirt a year. This could lead to a Patrick Mahomes type development for him.
#7, Jacksonville Jaguars: Jawaan Taylor, OT(Florida)
Taylor is a perfect match for the Jaguars, and he can propel a surprisingly stagnant run game from last year. The best offensive lineman in the draft, Taylor might be a bit of a steal at #7.
#8, Detroit Lions: TJ Hockenson, TE(Iowa)
Let Patriots Midwest continue! After hiring ex-Pats DC Mike Patricia last year, the Lions have signed LeGarrette Blount, Trey Flowers, and Danny Amendola. Hockenson, who has drawn comparisons to Gronk, would be a great pairing with Matt Stafford.
#9, Buffalo Bills: Montez Sweat, DE(Mississippi State)
Sweat is a freak of nature, and has a defensive end, ran a forty yard dash faster than Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. He will immediately impact a rather weak Buffalo defense.
#10, Denver Broncos: Drew Lock, QB(Missouri)
While Denver did trade for Joe Flacco, that was more of a short term solution than a long term one. With Lock, the Broncos get a proven passer that hopefully, will finally be the QB selection that Denver gets right.
#11, Cincinatti Bengals: Devin White, LB(LSU)
The Bengals had an extremely poor defense in 2018, and need immediate help. White can provide a big boost at the linebacker position, especially because Vontaze Burfict left for Oakland.
#12, Green Bay Packers: Rashan Gary, DE(Michigan)
Gary is projected to go as high as #4 in some mock drafts, but falls in this one. He provides the Packers with some much needed pass rush help after the loss of Clay Matthews in free agency.
#13, Miami Dolphins: DK Metcalf, WR(Ole Miss)
The Dolphins have not hit on a wide receiver in the draft in a while, and DeVante Parker is looking like a bust. With Metcalf, the Dolphins get a workout warrior(see: 1.5% body fat), and an excellent deep threat for Ryan FitzMagic to connect with. They might wait until next year to take the quarterback of their future.
#14, Atlanta Falcons: Greedy Williams, CB(LSU)
Williams is the best secondary player in the draft, and will address a big need for Atlanta. The hope is that he will not become injury-riddled like the rest of the Falcons defense.
#15, Washington Redskins: Brian Burns, DE(FSU)
With the Redskins labeled as the top candidate for Josh Rosen, they can look to bolster another need. After losing Preston Smith in free agency, Burns can come in and fill his role.
#16, Carolina Panthers: Andre Dillard, OT(Washington state)
After signing Matt Paradis to play center, the Panthers will take another offensive lineman to help clear holes for Cam Newton and Christian McCaffery.
#17, New York Giants(From Cleveland): Clelin Ferrell, DE(Clemson)
Ferrell played excellent for Clemson, and was arguably their best defender. He will fit in nicely in the Giants defense after they traded away Olivier Vernon in the Odell Beckham trade.
#18, Minnesotta Vikings: Cody Ford, OT(Oklahoma)
Kirk Cousins had an uneven first year with the Vikings, and a poor offensive line was one of the main reasons. Ford did an excellent job protecting Kyler Murray, and will make life for Cousins and running back Dalvin Cook easier.
#19, Tennessee Titans: Garrett Bradbury, Center(NC State)
Bradbury played excellent in his four years at NC State, and fits in great in the Titans run-heavy scheme. His run blocking could be the key for Marcus Mariota and Derrick Henry,
#20, Pittsburgh Steelers: Byron Murphy, CB(Washington)
Murphy also so his draft stock go up during the combine, and is arguably the best cornerback in this draft class. He addresses a big need for Pittsburgh and will fill the corner role nicely.
#21, Seattle Seahawks: Christian Wilkins, DT(Clemson)
Wilkins made a good decision when he stayed back at Clemson for his senior year, and had his best season, anchoring the Clemson defense that won the national championship.
#22, Baltimore Ravens: AJ Brown, WR(Ole Miss)
Brown who played alongside DK Metcalf at Ole Miss, was an extremely productive slot receiver. He will look to bolster a thin Ravens receiving corps that has not hit on many receivers of late.
#23, Houston Texans: Deandre Baker, CB(Georgia)
With cornerback by far the Texans biggest need, and Greedy Williams and Byron Murphy off the board, Baker is the next best pick. He might be the #1 corner on the Texans at the start of the 2019 season.
#24, Oakland Raiders(From Chicago): Noah Fant, TE(Iowa)
Like teammate TJ Hockenson, Fant is very good at creating mismatched as his size gives opposing defenses fits.He will fill in the role Jared Cook had in Oakland's offense, and will be dangerous alongside Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams.
#25, Philadelphia Eagles: Marquise Brown, WR(Oklahoma)
Brown played very well at Oklahoma with Kyler, and will get another good quarterback in Carson Wentz. Brown is a good long term solution for Philly that can be developed over the years,
#26, Indianapolis Colts: Jerry Tillery, DT(Notre Dame)
The Colts had an amazing year defensively with players that you probably have to google to find out who they are. They can add a big play nose tackle in Tillery that can give opposing QBs nightmares.
#27, Oakland Raiders(From Dallas): Chris Lindstrom, OG(Boston College)
Lindstrom is a strong offensive guard that can help improve Oakland's offensive line. They would have Trent Brown and Kolton Miller on the outside with Lindstrom playing the guard position. This combo might be one of the bets n the league in 2019.
#28, Los Angeles Chargers: Johnathon Abraham, Safety(Alabama)
The Chargers desperately need safety help next to standout Derwin James, and Abraham can provide that. He is a very strong player that hits hard.
#29, Kansas City Chiefs: Rock Ya-Sin, CB(Temple)
The Chiefs have a depleted corner back crew, and need help alongside Kyle Fuller. Ya-Sin played very well at Temple and can fill that hole easily.
#30, Green Bay Packers(From New Orleans): Jeffery Simmons, DT(Mississippi State)
Simmons had potential to go much higher than now, but tore his ACL in February. While he may need to spend a few months rehabbing his knee, he will make an impact when he returns.
#31, Los Angeles Rams: Josh Jacobs, RB(Alabama)
A steal at 31, Jacobs will be a very good compliment to all-pro running Todd Gurley, who might have a serious knee injury. The two will form a very scary RB committee.
#32, New England Patriots: Daniel Jones, QB(Duke)
The Patriots find the heir to Tom Brady's throne with Jones, a player that fits great in New England's system. Jones will have to wait a couple years(or 5) before playing, and will get a chance to continue the Patriots dynasty.
