There really is no such thing as an offseason. On Monday, the "legal tampering" period started in the NFL. Teams could meet and convince players to join them, but they couldn't ink a deal until today at 4:00. However, superstar Odell Beckham Jr. was not one of the names that was being thrown around for trade. He recently signed a 5 year, 90 million dollar deal and Giants GM Dave Gettleman said, "we didn't sign him just to trade him".
It appears as if though Gettleman did sign him for a trade. Yesterday night, it was announced that Odell Beckham Jr. would shipped to the Cleveland Browns for a 1st round pick, 3rd round pick, and safety Jabrill Peppers. Today, we will be identifying who won the trade and how this affects the league.
The Cleveland Browns just heisted the Giants. They got arguably the best receiver in football for a first, third, and a decent safety. In addition, they get him for a relative bargain as the Giants are still responsible for Odell's guaranteed money. This trade puts the Browns over the top. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Browns are legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

On offense, they have Baker Mayfield, Beckham, Jarvis Landry(Odell's best friend), Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt when he comes back from suspension, and David Njoku. On defense, they have one the best pass rushes in the league with Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon, Sheldon Richardson, and Larry Ogunjobi. This Browns team might win the AFC North this season, and definitely are going all out. With the Steelers losing their two best players, and the Ravens getting weaker on defense, it seems like only the Patriots and Chiefs stand in the way of Cleveland.
If you couldn't tell already, the Giants blew this trade. What on Earth are they thinking. Sure, one could argue that they are rebuilding, but if they were, the Giants should have traded Odell before giving him a huge extension that they now have to pay dead money for. They already let Landon Collins walk and sent a huge amount of money to tackle Nate Solder. The only good decision they made was drafting Saquon Barkley, and even then they might have been better off drafting Eli Manning's replacement.
