While there are still 8 teams left in contention, it is not too early to start dreaming about Super Bowl matchups that would be the most interesting or exciting. Here is our list of the top 5 possible Super Bowl Matchups.
1. Los Angeles Chargers vs. Los Angeles Rams
The Battle for Los Angeles would be quite the story. It would mark the first time two teams from the same city played each other. With a win, the Chargers will gain respect from their city, as the Rams are much more popular than the Chargers. Also, this could be Philip Rivers' last chance to win a Super Bowl and cement himself as a hall-of-famer.
2. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Rams
This would be a rematch of arguably the greatest game in NFL History. While both teams have come a long way since that week 11 shootout, this game would have lots of appeal. Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff each have tremendous big play potential that would make this game very exciting to watch.
3. Philadelphia Eagles vs. New England Patriots
Super Bowl rematch from last year. This time, it would feature Tom Brady and the 'slumping' Patriots against Nick Foles looking to recreate his magic from last year. A win from Brady might spur his retirement, although he says otherwise. Meanwhile, an Eagles win would officially make Nick Foles God's quarterback.
4. Los Angeles Chargers vs. New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees versus the team that infamously let him walk in 2004, in favor of their current quarterback, Philip Rivers. Two of the leagues most respected quarterbacks clashing for possibly the last time. This game also involves two of the best receivers and running backs in the league(Keenan Allen, Michael Thomas, Melvin Gordon, Alvin Kamara).
5. Indianapolis Colts vs. Philadelphia Eagles
This game would feature Frank Reich, the Colts head coach, returning to Philly after leaving them in the off season. Also, this game would be the first time two 6 seeds met in the Super Bowl. With a win, Andrew Luck would have completed likely the greatest comeback from an injury ever. Also, the Colts offensive line against the Eagles front seven would be quite a matchup to watch.
