Welcome to Week 12 Fantasy Football advice. This column will not feature obvious starts like Michael Thomas or Saquon Barkley. I wish your team the best of luck as we are nearing the end of the Fantasy Football regular season. If you have any direct questions relating your team email us at netsportsnews1@gmail.com, or DM us on Instagram or Twitter. QUARTERBACKS: "Go's" Lamar Jackson vs OAK Jackson should have no trouble in his second career start against a Raiders defense that just allowed three touchdowns to rookie Josh Rosen. Expect Jackson to use his skills as a runner and thrower against the pitiful Raiders D. Fire him up as a solid QB1. Carson Wentz vs NYG Wentz is coming off possibly the worst game of his career against the New Orleans Saints. He should bounce back against a Giants D that allowed 35 points to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Also, Wentz had his highest output of the season when the two teams played in week 2. Russell Wilson vs CAR The Panthers have recently lost to the Lions and Steelers, allowing 20 and 52 points respectively. Furthermore, they allowed over 100 running yards against a Lions team that has a horrible run game. Wilson should take advantage of the weak Panthers D this week, especially with number one receiver Doug Baldwin finally being 100% healthy. SLEEPER - Nick Mullens vs OAK
“No’s”
Matthew Stafford vs CHI
The Bears defense is back and better than before with the return of quarterback terrorizer Khalil Mack. The stingy defense was all over Kirk Cousins and the Vikings, forcing a fumble and two picks, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Stafford should have an even harder time as Marvin Jones is on the wrong side of questionable right now.
Derek Carr vs BAL
Aside from having a bad offense, to begin with, the Ravens defense has been fearsome in the past few weeks, limiting strong teams like the Saints and Steelers to just 23 points. Avoid Carr this week as he will almost certainly struggle against the strong Ravens front.
Marcus Mariota vs HOU
The Houston D is coming off a performance where they limited they had two interceptions against Alex Smith, including a 103 yards pick six. Also, Mariota struggled against a relatively weak Colts defense last week. Keep him on your bench for week 12.
RUNNING BACKS:
"Go’s”
Matt Breida vs TB
Breida is coming of off a bye week and should excel against a Buccaneers D that got stomped on by rookie Saquon Barkley. Start Breida with confidence especially if you lack Todd Gurley or Kareem Hunt due to bye weeks.
Gus Edwards vs OAK
Edwards has taken the league by surprise as an undrafted rookie free agent. He had a breakout game last week with 150 yards and a score. Expect him to keep that streak going against a Raiders defense that has struggled mightily against the run.
Dalvin Cook vs GB
Cook is playing a Packers D that has surrendered 100 yards on the ground in the past five weeks. Cook should have no trouble matching that threshold, especially because Kirk Cousins has struggled in the past few weeks.
“No’s”
LeSean McCoy vs JAX
Shady is coming off his best performance of the year, but do not expect him to keep up the streak against a strong Jaguars D that held the Steelers to only 16 points last week. McCoy will not find any holes against a line that features Calais Cambell and Yannick Ngakoue.
Adrian Peterson vs DAL
AP is coming off a two-touchdown performance but will receive a lot of attention with Alex Smith done for the year. Expect the Cowboys to focus most of their attention towards Peterson. Also, the Cowboys feature a scarily good front seven with DeMarcus Lawrence, Jaylon Smith, and rookie Leighton Vander Esch leading the way.
Dion Lewis vs HOU
Lewis has not performed well despite favorable matchup in the past weeks, and won’t have much success against the Texans defense that includes J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney. Also, Marcus Mariota is a little bit hurt and won’t throw the ball as well.
WIDE RECEIVER:
“Go’s”
Kenny Golladay vs CHI
Golladay will receive all of the attention on offense with Marvin Jones and Kerryon Johnson out with injury. Golladay is also coming off two straight performances with a touchdown, one of which came against the Bears.
Tre’Quan Smith vs ATL
Smith is coming off a breakout performance where he had 150 receiving yards and a score. The Saints might ride the hot hand against an Atlanta defense that gave up 28 points to the Browns, and have no good cornerbacks opposite Desmond Trufant.
Josh Gordon vs NYJ
Gordon has successfully earned the trust of Tom Brady as he has attracted at least 10 targets in the past two games. Brady should look his way a lot with as the Jets will have to account for Rob Gronkowski and Sony Michel coming back fully healthy.
SLEEPER - Pierre Garcon vs TB
“No’s”
Demaryius Thomas vs TEN
Thomas has taken a back seat in the Texans offense with Keke Coutee returning from injury. Also, he might have to face pro bowl corner Malcolm Butler who has started to play well again. Keep Thomas on your bench this week.
Marquez Valdez-Scantling vs MIN
MVS has performed well this season but will surely struggle against the strong Vikings secondary led by Xavier Rhodes and Harrison Smith. Scantling might receive a lot of attention from Rhodes if the Vikings decide to double team DaVante Adams.
Allen Robinson vs DET
Robinson has been extremely streaky this year due to injury and performance. He will have a hard time getting yards as he will be matched up with pro bowl cornerback Darius Slay. Furthermore, Mitch Trubisky is injured and Chase Daniel is starting, so the Bears will likely run the ball a lot more.
TIGHT ENDS:
“Go’s”
George Kittle at TB
A largely underrated tight end, who two weeks ago got 83 yards. Now he faces a Buccaneers who have given up 30 points in 3 of their last 4 games, and most recently 38 points against one of the worst teams in the NFL in the Giants.
Jack Doyle vs MIA
After Ebron had a 3 touchdown game against the Jaguars, everyone has looked at him as the starting tight end in Indianapolis. However, it’s really Jack Doyle who played well over the season with 5 receptions per game, while Ebron has only 4.
David Njoku at CIN
Njoku has been a bigger receiving target this year, with Baker Mayfield leading the offense. He has a plus matchup against the Bengals who recently gave up 51 points to the Saints, followed by 24 to a rookie playing in his first ever game(Lamar Jackson).
SLEEPER: Vance McDonald at DEN
“No’s”
Austin Hooper at NO
Hooper had an off week against the Cowboys last week, only getting 27 yards. He might struggle again against the Saints, who limited pro bowl tight end Zach Ertz to just 15 receiving yards. There are better options out there.
Jared Cook at BAL
Cook played well against the Cardinals last week, scoring a touchdown, but will have a tough time getting yards against a very strong Ravens D. Do not expect the Raiders to through much against a secondary featuring Jimmy Smith and Eric Weddle.
Evan Engram at PHI
Engram, listed as a “Go” last week, had 66 yards. He might have some trouble amassing yards against the Eagles, who have played well against opposing tight ends. Also, Engram is averaging just 40 yards a game since returning from injury.
DEFENSES:
“Go’s”
Ravens vs OAK
The Raiders, in general, are a dysfunctional bunch without Amari Cooper or defensive star Khalil Mack. As a result, play the Ravens D and expect a lot of points from them.
Chargers vs ARI
Likewise, the Cardinals are searching for answers after firing offensive coordinator Mike McCoy a few weeks ago. Josh Rosen seems to be finally clicking with his receivers, but not enough to make this matchup seem reasonable.
Jaguars vs BUF
Nathan Peterman is starting.
SLEEPER - Cowboys vs WAS
“No’s”
Falcons vs NO
The Saints are averaging over 35 points per game, and have gotten over 45 the last three weeks. The Falcons will likely be another victim of such high scores as their defense is sorely missing key players like Keanu Neal because of injury.
Jets vs NE
The Patriots are coming off a loss and a bye. There is no doubt the Pats have pored through film and corrected every error they committed against the Titans. They should come out guns blazing against a weak Jets defense.
Lions vs CHI
The Bears have proven they are a strong offensive team under new head coach Matt Nagy. The lack of talented linebackers for the Lions should help Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard wreak havoc in the middle of the field.
