Europe's teams are hurriedly looking to make large signings to strengthen their teams and ensure a prosperous future for the club. Here are the biggest signings and rumors of June.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Manchester United has been pursuing the Crystal Palace right-back throughout the summer transfer window, despite their offers being continuously denied. The transfer has finally been confirmed, with Manchester United agreeing to pay €50 Million for the British born defender. Wan-Bissaka graduated from Crystal Palace’s Under 20 academy and went straight to the first team. He’s proven an excellent attacking-defender that would help support Ole’s aggressive playing style. It’s even debated that Wan-Bissaka could play the position of Defensive Midfielder which could prove life-saving for United.

Paul Pogba
The rumored teams to snap Pogba up have now opened from two to three. It seems that Pogba has convinced Manchester United to let him go, and Paris Saint-Germain has joined Real Madrid and Juventus as competitors. What’s interesting is that each team has its own attractions that could appeal to Pogba. A return to Juventus, his former club, would be a sentimental move, and the fans would certainly love to see him return. At PSG, Pogba would fit right in with the French league and language aspect of things. He would also be playing with familiar National teammates such as young phenom Kylian Mbappe. Finally, Real Madrid presents the opportunity to play with former rival Eden Hazard and create the greatest midfield in Europe with the likes of those two plus last years Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric. The only barrier for any of these trades is the asking price for Pogba. United is asking for somewhere around €168 Million for the midfielder.
Rodrygo Goes
Real Madrid showcased their new Brazillian signing at the Bernabéu. Many speculated that the €40 Million Madrid paid Brazillian club Santos for the young forward was too much. Although playing chances will be limited, if he wants to secure a long future in Madrid, Rodrygo will have to prove that he was worth the huge move.
João Félix
Last week reports emerged that Atlético Madrid would be receiving Benfica midfielder João Félix. However neither club has confirmed the transfer and everyone is wondering why. Despite all this, it seems that the transfer will be confirmed within the next couple days. Recent reports show that Atlético have bid somewhere around 126 Million Euros for the youngster, but many wonder whether it would be the right move. Obviously not for Atlético who would have one future superstar, but for the player himself. Greater teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City have shown interest in Félix, and Atlético Madrid would almost be a step down, especially after the loss of striker Antoin Griezmann.
Some of the worlds best and up and coming have began their rise to fame with the right team laden with stars to help them on their journeys. Cristiano Ronaldo had Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney at United. Messi had Xavi, Ronaldinho, and Iniesta. Kylian Mbappe, who seems to be the heir to the throne, has Neymar, Cavani, Buffon. If João Félix went to Real Madrid, he would have a better coach, and a better environment to thrive with the likes of Hazard, Modric, Benzema, and Ramos to support him. Luka Jovic is a youngster who moved to Madrid and seems to have a bright future there.
Tanguy Ndombele
The Spurs have signed a true talent with Tanguy Ndombele, the Olympique Lyonnais midfielder. The two clubs agreed on a £56.5 million deal for the French International. This is a club record for the Spurs, who didn’t spend anything last year.
Marcus Rashhford
Manchester United has been spiraling down since the beginning of the 2018-19 season, after firing their manager Jose Mourinho and appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They exited the Champions league early in the elimination rounds, and are now at risk of losing Paul Pogba. However, they have been able to retain young English forward Marcus Rashford who signed a four-year deal with a salary of £250,000 a week.
Kyle Walker
The English international and Manchester City defender signed a two-year extension with a salary of about £250,000 a week.
Rodri Hernandez
Manchester City is looking to buy Rodri Hernandez from Atlético Madrid as well as Bayern Munich, but the clear favorites to complete the signing seem to be City. If City buy him at the speculated £70 Million, it will be the largest signing in club history. Manager Pep Guardiola hopes to add Rodri to strengthen City’s midfield and ensure a bright future with many young talents.
Harry Maguire
The Leicester City defender and English international is being pursued by Manchester United who seem desperate to make at least one big signing for the summer. However, Leicester have deemed Maguire to be around £90 Million, and if United do purchase the defender, it would set the record for the most expensive defender of all time, with the £75 Million transfer of Virgil Van Dijk to Liverpool being the current leader.
Matthijs de Ligt
Matthijs de Ligt, the Dutch international defender, and Ajax captain has had quite the season. He’s gone from scoring the winning goal against Juventtus in the Champions League to the tragic loss to the Spurs who had an incredible comeback led by Lucas Moura. He also placed second in the Nations League after the Netherlands lost to Portugal in the final. After the game, it seemed as though Ronaldo told de Ligt to come to Juventus, and it seems as if Ajax and Juventus have reached a deal for the youngster.
Alongside the idea of playing with Ronaldo, it seems that de Ligt also wanted a release clause in his contract so that he could control his own future. PSG, who had been Juventus’s competitors for the center-back, could not offer him the clause because release clauses are illegal in French Football.
