A Transfer in Salah's Near Future?

Nakul Joshi

Mohamed Salah has been at the center of Liverpool’s successes. Having scored over 60 goals for Liverpool last year, it is safe to say that the 26-year-old is the main reason why Liverpool made it to the Champions League finals in 2018. Even now, Mo Salah is competing for top scorer of the Premier League with the likes of Sergio Agüero. If added to a capable team with adept forwards, Salah can surely contribute to a deadly offense.

A few teams such as Real Madrid have realized this and have kept their eyes on Salah. Among these clubs, the most likely to acquire the Egyptian international is Juventus. The Italian club has been keen on the addition of Mo Salah to their squad. When paired with Ronaldo, the two could easily make a devastating offense all while dominating the Serie A top scorers. This transfer is likely to happen during the summer. However, the possibility of the transfer of an essential player does not sit well with Jurgen Klopp, the Reds’ manager, who is intent on keeping the 26-year-old. Furthermore, Salah ’s contract with Liverpool is said not to include a release clause which may make it harder for him to land in the Turin club this summer. Nonetheless, Juventus plans on offering 43.9 million euros along with Paulo Dybala to test the extent of Klopp’s determination on keeping Salah.

Salah is familiar with the ways of Serie A and Italy having been loaned to ACF Fiorentina. The 26-year-old joined the reds for 34 million euros. To Juventus, the Egyptian is worth nearly 44 million alongside Dybala who came to Turin for 100 million euros. This places Salah’s value close to 144 million euros, which is over 4 times his worth a year ago. In one season, Mo Salah has managed to create an unprecedented reputation for himself with powerhouse clubs. If added to Juventus, Salah will most definitely enhance their offense, when partnered up with Ronaldo. In the less likely situation that the 26-year-old joins Real Madrid, he may be able to fill in the void Ronaldo left and restore the former glory of the team he once looked up to. With Liverpool not giving in, the Egyptian international’s future is uncertain. Nonetheless, wherever he goes, Salah is sure to leave a mark.
