Mesut Özil rejects an offer £1M a week from Asia to invest his future in Arsenal. Özil was already one of the highest-paid players in history by being engaged in an offer worth £350 million, so one must wonder why the 30-year-old German footballer turned down an offer worth almost thrice as much to sign another contract with Arsenal. Özil, #10 on the Arsenal, has been playing on the team for over 5 years now. It is probable that the renowned German soccer player has developed emotional ties with Arsenal. In a recent interview, Mesut Özil’s agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, explained, ”We had some really big offers from Asia - there were some crazy offers. But, for Mesut, money was by no means the biggest factor”. Furthermore, he insists that his appreciation for arsenal is unwavering.

Moreover, Özil has many followers on social media platforms and many #10 arsenal jerseys being sold. It would be feasible that he is the most popular Premier League player. Such a commercial favor is another reason why Arsenal is unwilling to let go of Özil whose feelings are mutual. His contract stretches up to 2021 which suggests that he will be playing until his mid-thirties. Emotionally as well as on record, Mesut Özil has chosen not to dig out his established roots in Arsenal.
