With their recent loss to Ajax, which marked the end of their Champions League win streak, a dark age has been ushered into Madrid. As more and more conflicts show themselves to Madrid, from the outside and inside, the squad is starting to fall apart under manager Santiago Solari. However, as Real Madrid veteran, former Madrid coach and soccer legend Zinedine Zidane returns, this dark age may be prevented.
Similar to Lopetegui’s incompetence, the reason why Solari was hired, the quality of Real Madrid’s performance diminished in the short time they were under Solari. Madrid’s match yesterday marked their last one under Santi Solari as Zidane returns to being the manager of Madrid. Previously, Zidane was the boss of Madrid for about a year and left shortly after their Champions League win in 2017, his justification being Madrid’s necessity for change, only to be reinstated as the Madrid manager. Although Zidane resfused to be the manager of Madrid at first, Perez was able to convince him to aid the Spanish team by promising to grant him £300m transfer overhaul.
Having already helped Madrid gain the title for the best in Europe, Zidane is sure to bring some changes and solve the many problems that have plagued Madrid in his absence. Zidane already has ties with the Spanish team not only in coaching them but also playing for them. This gives him a very different perspective to handling them. Certain teams have the same playstyles that are prominent throughout many years, and Zidane can amplify their performance by harnessing these playstyles. In doing so and connecting with the players, Zinedine Zidane may be able to restore Madrid’s former glory.
Moreover, Madrid may buy more capable players in order to better their team. One possible candidate for a transfer to Madrid is Eden Hazard (Click here to view the specifics of the possibility of the Hazard transfer). There is also a possibility that Madrid opts for the transfer of a left-back to their team to make up for the transfer of their current left-back, Marcelo.
With these improvements, Madrid is sure to change ofr the better and possibly, make a comeback this season.
